Frequently Asked Questions
Custom & Special Orders
▾ Do you accept custom orders?
Yes, I love creating custom designs. Please visit my Custom Design Services page or contact me for more information.
▾ Do you accept rush orders?
While the typical turn-around time on orders is 2-3 weeks, I can often accommodate a rush order. There is a $25 rush order fee per item. Please get in touch with your request before placing an order, so that I can confirm the details with you.
▾ I am interested in an older design that is no longer in stock. Can you recreate it?
In most cases I can recreate a past design, provided that I have access to the same supplies. I often use unusual stones and vintage beads that are in a limited quantity, so I sometimes am not able to recreate designs exactly more than once. However, usually a satisfactory substitution can be made. Please contact me to find out availability.
▾ I love this design, but need it in a different color scheme. Can you create one to match my wedding colors?
Yes, please contact me with the a link to the design you are interested in having recreated in a different color palette, as well as images of the colors you want, and I will be happy to work with you to match the designs.
Product Information
▾ What sort of threads are used in your designs?
Many of my designs are created with high-quality metallic foil embroidery threads that contain 24k, 18k gold, or 99.99% pure silver in the foil. The threads are crafted in Japan using a process that applies gold and silver leaf to a thin foil which is then wrapped around an internal fiber core. Some of my designs feature precious metal threads. These hard-to-find fibers are composed of a core of thread tightly wrapped in a thin sheet of 24k gold over a layer over silver-plated metal alloy, or 90% silver. Used for centuries and reaching their zenith of popularity in the textiles of the Renaissance and Rococo eras, metal threads combine the softness of fiber with the sheen and richness of gold and silver.
In addition to the precious metal threads, many of my designs incorporate fine 100% silk threads.
▾ Are there any special care instructions for your jewelry?
When not in use, it is important to store your jewelry in the pouch provided to prevent snagging on other items in your jewelry box, to protect silk fibers from fading, and to slow down the naturally occurring tarnishing process of the silver and gold-filled elements. Each design comes with a storage pouch made from anti-tarnish fabric. These absorb tarnish-producing gases and will greatly reduce the need to polish your jewelry. The sterling silver or gold-filled findings can be polished with a soft, lint-free jewelry polishing cloth as needed. Designs of real metal thread are sealed with a non-toxic wax to protect their finish. Pieces made from silk threads may be carefully spot cleaned, but it is best to avoid contact with hairspray, perfume, and makeup.
▾ Do you use vintage or machine-made lace?
I create all of the lace entirely by hand using couture lacemaking techniques and my original patterns. However, I have incorporated pieces of heirloom lace provided by clients into custom designs.
